Secure Server Backups
MVI Hosting offers secure backups for each of its hosting solutions. While the backup intervals differ based on the hosting solution chosen, the backup process is the same. At scheduled intervals the site files and data are packaged up and transferred to a secure offline RAID5 backup server. The backup server is not available to the public and only accessible via a secure connection within our hosting infrastructure.
More About RAID
RAID — which stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (as named by the inventor) or occasionally known as Redundant Array of Independent Disks (a name which later developed within the computing industry) — is a technology that employs the simultaneous use of two or more hard disk drives to achieve greater levels of performance, reliability, and/or larger data volume sizes.
RAID5 stripes data across multiple disks. RAID5, however, adds a parity check bit to the data. This slightly reduces available disk capacity, but it also means that the RAID array continues to function if a single disk fails. In the event of a disk failure, you simply replace the failed disk and keep going.
Backup Schedule
Below is a breakdown of the backup frequency and duration for site files and data for each of our hosting solutions.
